The Original AtlanteanSword

The original Atlantean Sword

Designed by production designer Ron Cobb to look old even in the ancient setting of the Hyborian world, this sword is found by Conan in the tomb of an Atlantean king, (perhaps even Kull of Atlantis himself, another of Robert E. Howard's famous characters.)

Atlantean hiltThe sword, covered with cobwebs and debris, is taken by Conan from the mouldering hand of the skeletal King of Atlantis. A few strikes on a stone and the sword is revealed as polished and beautiful as the day it was placed there, a sign of the superior technology of the Atlanteans; a technology that was lost and forgotten by Conan's era.

Considered the "signature" sword of Conan, this sword is carried by Arnold Schwarzenegger in both Conan the Barbarian and Conan the Destroyer. Fiberglass props from the original Conan film were also apparently used in 1987's The Iron Warrior (sometimes called "Ator III") starring Miles O'Keefe.
